Can iPhone SE 2020 Display Screen and iPhone 8 Screen Be Interchangeable?

The iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 8 share the same display screen size on the appearance. Most iPhone users think that these two models can be interchangeable on the display screen and internal parts, while some of us don’t agree with that. Here we would like to try to tear down these two iPhone models and interchange the display screen. Let’ see if it is working normally on these two iPhones.
1. iPhone SE 2020 display screen replaced on iPhone 8
1.1 Tear down the iPhone SE display screen and iPhone 8 screen, disconnect the battery.
1.2 Install the iPhone SE 2020’s display screen on iPhone 8, with the other parts remained the same on the iPhone 8’s back panel. It fits well and can be assembled.
1.3 Connect the iPhone display screen flex cable and the battery cable. Turn on the phone and check each function on the phone, which includes the screen touch, Taptic touch, the speakers, cameras, charging port, etc.
1.4 Most functions are working well except for iPhone SE 2020’s 3D Touch and True Tone functions. Here we can fix the display screen True Tone function by restoring and rewriting via the IE IP Eeprom programmer.
2. iPhone 8 display screen replaced on iPhone SE 2020
2.1 Same as the procedure above, the iPhone 8 display screen fits well on iPhone SE 2020. Connect the iPhone 8 display screen flex cables to iPhone SE 2020, with other parts reminded the same in the back panel.
2.2 Turn on the phone and check each function, which as the same ones as in the first section.
2.3 After all the functions we checked, we can see that the iPhone 8 display screen works well on iPhone SE 2020 except for some 3D touch and True Tone functions. Same as the result in the first section.
3. Other swappable parts between iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 8
3.1 Test the other parts on each phone one by one. Here we’ve checked the battery, the cameras, the Taptic Engine, and the charging port.
3.2 After tested the parts on each iPhone, we can see some of most parts work quite well on each iPhone. These parts are rear-facing cameras, charging port, and the Taptic Engine.
3.3 The iPhone SE battery and iPhone 8 battery are not compatible because the connector types are not the same. The back panel can be swappable except for the difference of logo position on the back.
From the experiments above we can see that the iPhone SE 2nd and iPhone 8 display screen can be swappable. Some of the parts can be also interchangeable, too.
