Hi! My Nexus 5 suddenly stopped recognizing WiFi networks. Not even the WiFi icon appears on the screen! Whenever I go to WiFi settings, it is stuck in an endless “Searching for networks cycle” message. As I mentioned, it does not recognize any WiFi network and I don’t know what the problem could be.
I have tried all of the above but my Nexus 5 continues to have the same issue. I have even reset it to Factory mode. I would really appreciate any help!! Thanks!

I tried all solutions found on internet. Although I had a quick fix, I bought a new phone; but i love my nexus, so what i am gonna do is
RESTORE and INSTALL the original ANDROID KITKAT in my phone and check if that works or maybe ANDROID NOUGAT. and update here again.

Troubleshooting 10. Make sure the (wpa or wep) password registered in the
router is the one you are using.

Just found a fix for my WiFi. The access point gave my IP address to another device on the network when I left the building, but Nexus 5 (android version 4.4.4) ignored the DHCP server to change it’s IP when re-registered. This must be a bug in DHCP allocation on Nexus / Android.

Setting static IP in advanced options to higher number (bellow 255 in /24 range) or allocating IP on the router will fix the problem.

You need to change the router security from WEP to WPA.
I had the same problem and this is what I’ve done. It worked just fine.

Changing the connection to a static IP address and setting the IP address to be within the range allowed by the router worked for me. The phone seems to be having issues with dhcp

In my case I had to manually add the MAC address of my Nexus 5 in my router settings (you can find it in the “Advanced” section in the additional menu under wifi & networks). Then it worked perfectly.

just spent about 4hrs trying to figure out why my new nexus 5 wouldn’t connect to my home hub 3 router, it’d just loop on authenticating and connecting…

well eventually the penny dropped when i was looking at my dhcp settings on the router and i realized i don’t use dhcp. (set to off)

In this case the problem was defiantly between the keyboard and the chair.

    Troubleshooting 9:

Change the date and time to the local date and time. The router in general will be configured to the local time. If your LG Nexus 5 has been brought to a different country or just playing around with wifi without using the sim then try this step and it should work if everything above fails.
