Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung’s fifth flagship smartphone, is the successor to the Galaxy S4, unveiled on Feb. 24 at Mobile World Conference 2014 in Barcelona. When it comes to the Galaxy S5 new features, users are expected to see some innovative changes, compared with the Galaxy S4. Below, we walk you through the main changes on the Galaxy S5. What are the new features that Galaxy S5 brings to us? Is it worth upgrading to the Galaxy S5?

Galaxy S5 vs S4: Design

The back panel of Galaxy S5 still adopts the plastic design as same as the Galaxy S4. But it surprises Samsung customers by a brand new look with the water-resistant at the IP67 certification requirement and fingerprint sensor. Measured at 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm and weighted 145g, it's slightly bigger and heavier than the Galaxy S4, which is 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm and 130g.

Galaxy S5 vs S4: Display

The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive display with the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 432 ppi pixel density. The Galaxy S4 is equivalent with the same specifications at the 5-inch screen – just 0.1-inch smaller than GS5.

Galaxy S5 vs S4: Processor

The Galaxy S5 is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 process, while the Galaxy S4 has a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. Taking the advantage of the higher level process, the Galaxy S5 runs faster than the Galaxy S4. Regarding to the RAM, the GS5 sticks with the 2GB of RAM as same as the GS4.

Galaxy S5 vs S4: Battery

The Galaxy S4’s 2600mAh battery storage can make GS4 remain 50% battery at the end of the day. Although the Galaxy S5 has a slightly bigger 2800mAh battery, it contains an ‘ultra power saving’ mode, which has the function to maximize battery life. The Galaxy S5’s battery can last up to expected 10 hours of web browsing and 12 hours of video playing.

Galaxy S5 vs S4: Camera

Smartphone users usually take the camera as an important factor when they choose a new brand phone. Catering to customers’ demands, Samsung Company designs a 16-megapixel rear camera in preference to the Galaxy S4’s 13-megapixel back camera. The auto focus time of the Galaxy S5 camera is improved to just 0.3s. 4K video recording (3840 x 2160) is also available for Galaxy S5, while this feature does not equipped on the Galaxy S4.

From the comparisons between Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 above, it’s easy to find the specs and all the new features of Galaxy S5 aren’t very dramatic, so we think the Galaxy S5 isn’t the mind-blowingly amazing device. Then whether  is it worth upgrading your Galaxy S4 to GS5? If you are smartphone fever and pursue a more powerful device, it’s not bad to have a new version with better specs. But if you think the Galaxy S4 specs are enough for you, then just keep it and forget the upgrade.

How about you? Will you buy a new GS5? Do you think it is worthy of an upgrade? Please tell us your decision in the comments.

You can take your decision after checking the differences between the S4 and the S5 below.

If it was me designing a phone I would have went with a different material yes after the years the smartphones have evolved I have had each phone that ever came out but it’s time to leave the plastic material in the past cause for instance look at the design of the HTC one they got the point yes indeed samsung makes magnificent phones but , I know you guys are are trying to make dead lines but focus on something out of the out of the box and make these phones more durable and more louder and if you guys can bring a device that was just surprise a person yes I like my s4 but the s5 looks almost similar to phone yes its faster and and a couple more features battery much better but I would focus on more is material design , battery and amazing technology that no mobile company have never seen , louder speakers for the phone oh one more thing you know about the battery as I spoke about if you look at every person on the bus or just sitting down just relaxing there not always talking most of the time playing a game on there phone oh when there’s no wifi around but other then samsung keep up the good work maybe one day I’ll a work for you one day cause what I can say I know what people want .

I have a GS4 active and love it….I do not think the upgrade would be worth it….not unless it has the 64GB storage upgrade option or 128GB option which it does not.
