Apple blog Apple.Pro on Monday posted two pictures of Apple’s upcoming low-cost iPhone that were first published on the Chinese social networking site Weibo. The photos suggest the phone will come with a curved plastic rear panel which is similar to the iPhone 3G and 3GS, and have a body a little thicker than the iPhone 5. The curved design does match up with the rumored low-cost iPhone shell that leaked last month. The photos also suggest that the phone will have a jack for a lighting cable. No other details can be found from the photos, and the authenticity of the pictures is still unknown.
Both the iPhone 5S and the low-cost iPhone are expected to be released this fall. It's believed that Apple plans to sell low-cost iPhone without a contract so that the new model can compete with cheaper Android-based smartphones, allowing the company to address a new market segment in which it does not currently compete.
