Samsung Galaxy Note II (Rumor)

From http://news.mk.co.kr South Korea’s Samsung Electronics will be releasing a flexible display-equipped successor model to the Galaxy Note in October so as to compete against Apple’s iPhone5. Apple will most probably stick to the same timeline as last year and release its iPhone 5 in fall, predict market experts. Samsung is said to be timing the launch of its Galaxy Note II to coincide with the release of the iPhone5, up from its initial launch date at the year-end, to compete head-on with Apple. Samsung is in the midst of developing a large-screen smartphone model with displays exceeding five inches, disclosed industry sources Wednesday. The working product Galaxy Note II is a derivative model of the Galaxy S III which has just started accepting preorders this week, and will be released by October. The Galaxy Note II model will use an unbreakable plane (UBP) display, which is a precursor to the flexible display. The thinner display will also allow for a slimmer design by giving more space for the baseband core chip and application processor (AP). The Korean phone maker was rumored to be planning a successor to the Galaxy Note from earlier on in the year, but the decision to move up the launch date to October was made very recently as the company finalized its strategies for the second half of the year. The new Galaxy Note II will have a larger display than the current model at 5.3 inches, while also having a longer battery life and sturdier build/weight to increase shock-resistance against potential falls. It will also feature a quad-core processor, which allows faster processing speed for multi-tasking. The sequel model will also use Android’s Jelly Bean operating system (OS), a successor to the current Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS, to release a premium product that can vie against Apple’s steady bestseller smartphones.
