Samsung Galaxy S22 release date rumors, price, specifications and leaks

Today we will sort out all the leaks, rumors and news that may have been heard about the Samsung Galaxy S22 before its launch in early 2022.

 

 

1. Release date

 

Most early Samsung Galaxy S22 release date rumors point to January 2022, but it now seems more likely to be released in February.

 

The leaker Jon Prosser said that the phone will be released on February 8th and then sold on February 18.

 

 

2. Price

 

So far, we are not sure about the price of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, but it is expected that it will be roughly the same price as the Galaxy S21 series when it is launched.

 

The Samsung Galaxy S21 starts at 799 USD/769 GBP/1,249 AUD, S21 Plus starts at 999 USD/949 GBP/1,549 AUD, and S21 Ultra starts at 1,199 USD/1,149 GBP/1,849 AUD.

 

3. Design

 

According to a leak, the overall design of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series may be very similar to the current series, so don't expect much visual changes.

 

We have now seen unofficial renderings of all three phones from reliable sources, and you can see that the S22 and S22 Plus follow the traditional appearance of their predecessors, while the S22 Ultra is different. We also saw a leak in the back panel of the S22 Ultra.

 

 

Based on these renderings, the appearance of the S22 Ultra (or Note 22 Ultra) is very different from that of the S22 and S22 Plus (or S22 Pro).

 

We have now heard about the possible size and weight of the Galaxy S22 series. These are from the leaker Ice Universe, who claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S22 is 146 x 70 x 7.6mm and 167g, the Galaxy S22 Plus is 157.4 x 75.8 x 7.6mm and 195g, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is 163.3 x 77.9 x 89mm and 228g.

 

 

4. Display

 

We may see a slightly different screen size between the Samsung Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy S21. Multiple sources claim that the Galaxy S22 will be equipped with a 6.06-inch screen (less than the 6.2 inches of the S21), and the Galaxy S22 Plus will be equipped with 6.55 inches (less than 6.7) and S22 Ultra may be 6.81 inches (above 6.8).

 

This matches the UniverseIce leak, which shows the screen protectors of all three new devices, similar in size to what we heard above.

 

In addition, the source said that only the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be equipped with an LTPO display.

 

We have heard of the same size from another source, with 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus, and QHD+ resolution on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

 

Regarding the color leak, they said that the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will be available in white, black, rose gold and green, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be available in black, white or dark red. Another source will add green to mix.

 

 

5. Color

6. Camera

 

On the front of the camera, we heard from a leaker that the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will be equipped with a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens (which can achieve 3x optical zoom).

 

As for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, a report initially hinted that it may have a 200MP main camera and an under-screen selfie camera. Further reports since then indicate that Samsung will not include a 200MP sensor, but will use a 108MP sensor with "polished".

 

We have heard similar reports elsewhere, suggesting that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be equipped with a 108MP main camera, two 12MP telephoto cameras and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

 

 

7. Specifications and functions

 

A source said that the Exynos 2200 chipset is expected to be used with AMD GPUs. An earlier leak indicates that Samsung is working with AMD to develop a new chipset.

 

A leaker claimed that Samsung has been working hard to produce this chipset, which may mean that most places use the Snapdragon chipset (probably the rumored Snapdragon 898). Since then, we have heard that two CPUs will indeed be used, and Snapdragon versions will be available in most regions.

 

Other specification leaks include claims that RAM and storage will not change compared to the Galaxy S21 series. A source said that the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are expected to have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, as well as 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage space of Galaxy S22 Ultra.

 

 

8. Battery

 

As for the battery, a leak showed that the Samsung Galaxy S22 is 3,800mAh, the Galaxy S22 Plus is 4,600mAh, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is 4,500mAh.

 

According to multiple sources, the Samsung Galaxy S22 can get a smaller 3,700 mAh battery with a "rated" capacity of 3,590 mAh.

 

And there is also a message about the charging speed, Samsung is testing 45W or 65W power.

 

In particular, the 45W power supply has been rumored more than once, but it is obviously only super in the S22. This number is much lower than the competition, and other mid-range and high-end Android phones have power ranges from 65W to 120W.
