I bought a Lenovo A750 2 years ago, it was a low-end device but it met my needs. It functioned smoothly until about 3 months ago. One day about 3 months ago, while I was in the shower, the phone fell into the water. Immediately, I pulled the phone out of the showed, and checked to see whether the display still worked or not. Sadly, the screen wouldn’t come on. The phone had to be taken apart and the battery removed.

I wiped the parts dry with a cloth several times, but I wasn’t sure if it was ok to put it back together and power the phone back on. After search online to see how to save my phone, I found some options, like putting the phone and parts into a bag of rice and letting the rice absorb the water from the parts. It sounded promising so I tried it, and when I took everything from the bag of rice after leaving it there for 24 hrs, the parts seemed dry. I put everything back together, and what do you know, I was able to power the device back on.

Later on though I found that there was still some vapor under the screen, and the digitizer wasn’t very accurate anymore. This issue had to be fixed and the only way was to remove the moisture. So I tried using a hair drier to heat up all the parts, including the digitizer and touch screen. One of my friends had tried to dry his phone by leaving it under the sun, but the battery expanded and broke the phone.

Finally, after blow-drying the parts they were dry enough to put back together. The phone worked as well as before, but for some reason the battery drained quickly. It was water damaged. It was finally time to retire my Lenovo A750, and I replaced it with a brand new Smartisan T1.

Afterwards, I found out that putting a water-damaged phone into a bag of rice is useless. The best method is to take the water-damaged device apart, and clean the water with a cloth or something dry. Then lay the parts out in a spot with some airflow. It’ll dry quicker than when put into a bag of rice.
