How To Repair A Cracked Nexus 9 Screen Replacement

The fourth tablet in the Google Nexus family, the Nexus 9, was developed by HTC and Google. The Nexus 9 features an 8.9-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Even though the device is so well designed and protected, it is still able to crack the screen from an accidental drop or bump. Here we show you how to replace the Nexus 9’s screen in case you have an accident.

 Tools Needed:

1. Hair Drier or Heat Gun

2. Case Opening Tool

3. Screwdriver

4. Tweezers

5. Screen Suction Cup Tool

6. Spudger Tool

 Step 1: Remove The Nexus 9 Battery Door.

 ▪ Power off the device.

▪ Remove the battery door by hand. (Notice: the rear facing camera is set in place between the battery cover and motherboard, be careful not to damage it.)

 Step 2: Remove The Nexus 9 Battery.

 ▪ Gently pry off the battery. (Notice: the battery is glued to the frame with some strong adhesive, be careful.)

Step 3: Remove The Nexus 9 Front Facing Camera. 

 Step 4: Remove The Nexus 9 Antenna Board.

▪ Remove the copper shield. ▪ Undo the 3 screws to release the antenna board. ![][6]

Step 5: Remove The Nexus 9 Motherboard.

▪ Remove the flex ribbon connectors.

▪ Undo the screws to release the logic board. ![][7]

Step 6: Remove The Nexus 9 Charging Port Assembly.

 ▪ Remove the flex ribbon connectors.

▪ Remove the USB charging port assembly.

Step 7: Remove The Nexus 9 Microphone Flex Assembly.

Step 8: Remove The Nexus 9 Two Speakers.

Step 9: Remove The Nexus 9 Vibrating Motor.

Step 10: Separate The Nexus 9 LCD Assembly From Frame.

▪ Heat up the edge of the LCD assembly.

▪ Use a suction cup tool to pull up the LCD assembly.

▪ Insert the case opening tool into the gap. Once the Nexus 9 LCD assembly is separated from the front housing, you can then install a new Nexus 9 screen replacement in reverse order.
